Gulab Jamun Recipe
Ingredients:
- Milk Powder
- All-Purpose Flour
- Baking Powder
- Ghee or Unsalted Butter
- Milk
- Sugar
- Water
- Cardamom Pods
- Rose Water
- Saffron Strands
- Pistachios (optional, for garnish)
Quantity:
- 1 cup Milk Powder
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tbsp Ghee or Unsalted Butter
- 1/4 cup Milk (approx)
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 4-5 Cardamom Pods
- 1 tsp Rose Water
- A few Saffron Strands
- Pistachios (optional, for garnish)
Tips:
- Ensure the oil is not too hot when frying Gulab Jamuns to avoid burning.
- Knead the dough gently, do not over-knead, or else Gulab Jamuns may become hard.
- Soak the fried Gulab Jamuns in warm sugar syrup for at least 1 hour for best results.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios for added flavor and presentation.
Recipe:
- In a bowl, mix milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder.
- Add ghee or unsalted butter and mix well until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Gradually add milk and knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, cardamom pods, rose water, and saffron. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes to make sugar syrup.
- Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into smooth balls without any cracks.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan on low-medium heat. Fry the Gulab Jamuns until golden brown.
- Drain and immediately soak them in warm sugar syrup for at least 1 hour.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios and serve warm or at room temperature.
